RTV SLO, Intelekta:

AI systems often know quite a lot about their users – where they live, what they do, and what they are interested in. Chatbots are most commonly used for education and work, but increasingly they are also used to pass the time and reduce feelings of loneliness.

While initial interactions are usually focused on searching for information, frequent use can lead to greater trust and attachment. In this way, a new form of relationship between humans and artificial intelligence is emerging – one that may also create opportunities for influence and manipulation.

“There is definitely something about the psychological profile of individuals who may be more vulnerable to developing very problematic views in conversations with chatbots, which can be harmful to themselves or even lead to aggressive behaviour toward others,” said Hana Hawlina, a researcher at the Institute of Criminology, in the podcast.
