Researcher Eva Bertok in front of a screen with the title of her presentation
This week, our colleague Dr Eva Bertok presented preliminary findings from an ongoing Slovenian study on stalking as a form of domestic violence at the BRITISH SOCIETY OF CRIMINOLOGY (BSC) Conference, hosted by the Nottingham Trent University.

Her presentation explored how evidential thresholds and credibility assessments shape whose experiences become legible to justice institutions. While stalking is often dismissed as a series of isolated incidents, for many victims it is a persistent pattern of abuse that continues long after a relationship has ended.

By centring victims experiences, this research aims to generate evidence that supports more effective prevention, better victim identification, informed risk assessment, and more victim-centred justice responses.
