Patriarchal and traditional views are gaining ground among young people, limiting women’s place in society, warns our researcher Dr. Eva Bertok. She argues that education on gender equality should begin as early as kindergarten and continue throughout school.
“The 2024 Youth Survey conducted in Maribor showed that young people are increasingly embracing traditional views, such as the ‘tradwife’ ideal—the belief that a woman’s place is in the private sphere rather than the public one, and that women should be subordinate to men. These are worrying trends,” she explains.
