Our researcher, Assoc. Prof. Dr Mojca M. Plesničar took part in the international workshop Building ERC-Competitive Research: Lessons from Croatia, held in Split, Croatia, on 7 and 8 September 2026 under the motto Unlocking ERC Success: Smart Preparation & Winning Strategies.
The event focused on strengthening research excellence and increasing the success of researchers from EU Widening countries and the Western Balkan region in securing prestigious European Research Council (ERC) funding. Despite the considerable scientific potential of these countries, researchers from Widening countries remain underrepresented among ERC grantees.
Dr Plesničar contributed to the panel “Features of Competitive ERC Proposals” and an interaktive workshop “Preparing a Proposal for ERC Starting or Consolidator Grant”. Together with researchers, ERC grantees, evaluators, institutional representatives and research managers, she shared insights and experiences related to the preparation of successful and competitive ERC proposals.
