Our researchers, dr Mojca M. Plesničar and dr Lora Briški, contributed as external experts to the recently completed European project FULL-PROOF. As part of the project, they prepared the National Report for Slovenia, analysing the implementation of EU directives on the procedural rights of suspects and accused persons in the Slovenian legal system. They also presented their findings at the project’s final conference.
Their analysis shows that a large part of the European standards is already ensured in Slovenia, either through legislation or case law. However, some requirements are not fully reflected in legislation or are primarily ensured through case law, which may affect the clarity and predictability of procedural safeguards and make their effective exercise more difficult.
The National Report for Slovenia is available here.
