The Institute of Criminology at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, University of Birmingham, University of Sarajevo, University of Rijeka, and Inter University Centre Dubrovnik, organised the Dubrovnik Symposium on AI Law & Society, held on 16–17 October 2026 at the Inter University Centre Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Co-directed by Nasir Muftić (University of Sarajevo), Edina Harbinja (University of Birmingham), Stjepan Gadžo (University of Rijeka), and the Institute’s researcher Kristina Čufar, the symposium brought together doctoral researchers working at the intersection of law, technology, and society, alongside established scholars in the field. It provided a collaborative and supportive environment for early-career researchers to present and discuss their work, exchange ideas, explore academic and professional career pathways, and build new connections.
The two-day programme featured interactive research workshops, panel discussions, a keynote lecture by Professor Karen Yeung (University of Birmingham), and a range of networking opportunities. Particular emphasis was placed on developing research and academic career skills, including research design, academic publishing, communicating research, and building professional networks.
The symposium also welcomed the participation of the Institute of Criminology’s researchers Iva Ramuš Cvetkovič and Manja Skočir.
