Researchers Lovrena Jeromelj and Manja Skočir attended the kick-off meeting of the two-year international research project SAFE-NET, held in Athens on Thursday, 29 October 2026. The meeting was hosted by the project coordinator, the Centre of European Institutional Law.

The SAFE-NET project, which will be carried out in Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, and Portugal, aims to strengthen legal protection for women and girls affected by cyber sexual violence. Its objective is to enhance the capacity of justice professionals to respond effectively and sensitively to such cases and to promote victim-centred, trauma-informed, and gender- and age-sensitive approaches.

Particular emphasis will be placed on knowledge exchange, professional training, and strengthening cooperation across institutions and countries.

The project is funded under the European Union’s Justice Programme (JUST) and will run until the end of September 2028.
