Following last year’s conference in Rome, this year second annual conference within the Social Sciences for Democracy – SOS4democracy project will be held in Sarajevo.

The annual SOS4Democracy conference in Sarajevo will explore the complex interplay between law, politics, and social movements in illiberal times. Law is examined both as a tool for enforcing social order and as a potential instrument of oppression or transformation. Politics is seen as a mechanism of power and governance, closely tied to legal processes. Social movements, whether defending human rights or promoting populist agendas, play a crucial role in shaping — and sometimes challenging — democratic systems.

Let us recall that the coordinator of the Social Sciences 4 Democracy – SOS4Democracy is dr. Vasja Badalič, a researcher at the Institute of Criminology at the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana.

The conference invites researchers from the social sciences and humanities, practitioners, activists, students and others involved in the study and promotion of the rule of law, human rights and fundamental freedoms in modern democracies.

More information and the program of the second annual conference can be found at project website.
