Today marked the beginning of second annual conference “Law, Politics and Social Movements in Illiberal Times: Resistance, Reaction and Oppression”. The conference is organised by the Institute of Criminology at the Faculty of Law Ljubljana, and the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Law.

The event opened with welcome speeches by Head of the Local Organising Committee Damir Banović, Rector of the University of Sarajevo Tarik Zaimović, Dean of the Law Faculty Zinka Grbo, and SOS4Democracy Project Coordinator Vasja Badalič.
The conference, which will also take place tomorrow, 19 June, and on Friday, 20 June, will host researchers in the social sciences and humanities, practitioners and students from more than ten European countries, who will discuss contemporary challenges to democracy and the role of law, politics and social movements in illiberal social environments.
