Our researcher Renata Salecl took part as a keynote speaker at the Congreso Futuro festival in Santiago, Chile—the largest scientific event in South America—which took place from January 12 to 17, 2026. Organized by the Chilean Senate in cooperation with all public and private universities in the country, the festival celebrated its 15th anniversarythis year and brought together 120 scientists from around the world.
In her keynote address, Renata Salecl addressed the rise of aggression in public discourse. She also participated in a roundtable discussion on contemporary philosophy’s perspectives on artificial intelligence.
The scientists’ talks were attended live by one thousand people, while tens of thousands more followed the festival online.
Renata Salecl also presented her new Spanish book, Maleducados, in Chile and gave several interviews to Chilean media, including CNN.
